virgincoconut
Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) has been known to nourish, moisturize, and soften the skin. VCO has been added as an ingredient in different products, like shampoo, conditioner, lotion and body oil.
Using VCO protects the skin against damage from environmental pollutants and from the damaging rays of the sun, giving it a younger, healthier glow. It also helps in healing and restoring damaged tissues.
Virgin coconut oil products also help people with their skin problems, like yeast and fungal infections on the skin, pimples and acne, dry, cracked skin, psoriasis, and eczema.
When applied on the hair as a conditioner, the VCO softens the hair and conditions the scalp. It also helps in treating dandruff.
The benefits of using the virgin coconut oil is not only limited to the skin. It is also used in cooking (food preparation) and food supplement.

Skin Itch

Date January 30, 2009

itchYou get the itch and run off to the dermatologist to get it checked and you find out there’s nothing wrong, so what gives? Stress, for stress has a very distinct effect on our physiology that the body can react in very unpredictable ways, yes even your itchy skin. One of the reasons for this is that high stress levels may reduce the anti-microbial abilities of your skin lessening its effectivity against the simplest invaders. The skin, as we know is the human body’s largest organ and serves as our first defense against the dangerous world we live in. Our skin is like a breathable jacket that lets sweat out but leaves all other vital fluids in. that’s why a scratch or scrape can be a bit more irritating than a cut. The more surface of your skin is affected, the more nerve endings are exposed so the pain.

facialporesMany of the facial maladies we suffer from are more often than not surely related to improper or inadequate cleaning of the face. There are many processes that are recommended as well as a ton of varying products that are aimed to do so. Most work but some don’t and cause more harm than good. Be sure to check around for the ones that sell best and contain only natural extracts meaning no synthesized chemicals. Most synthesized chemicals though similar in structure and efficacy to natural ones have side effects so check for active contents and ingredients. Exfoliation is good but use it sparingly, twice a week is best for too much can irritate skin leaving you with ugly scars. I one needs to have them removed, take them to the professionals so proper force is applied reducing scarring.

It’s that time of year again, when the sun peaks through and your skin soaks it all up like a sponge. Sure you’ll get a nice tan, but the sun’s harmful rays will affect your skin, and when it does, that tan won’t even be worth it. Here’s how to protect your sensitive skin from that powerful sun.
Most people think that an SPF 30 or more will completely shield them from the sun’s damaging rays. Wrong. SPF only refers to UVB rays, which is the shorter end of the sun’s spectrum of light that causes sunburns. The longer rays, which are called UVA, are only filtered out by some sunscreens, not all. Since UVA rays are not harmful instantly, they do damage in the long run, and companies are now working to bring out sunscreens that contain protection against UVA rays as well.

Water and Skin

Date May 24, 2008

To elaborate further about the importance of water in protecting and taking care of our skin, I want to mention what Dr. Colbert said in his book The Seven Pillars of Health. He said that water keeps your skin supple and in addition to that it keeps your eyes bright, and your body spry. He somehow illustrated it with plums; removing water from plums and you get prunes. In the same way, removing water from your skin you get wrinkles. The skin was designed to hold in moisture to be elastic, and depriving it with water the skin becomes dry, flaky wrinkled, sagging and loses elasticity that no amount of wrinkle cream can cure it.

Water Your Skin

Date May 21, 2008

We can observe that more and more facial products are out in the market today on skin care. Although it is true that we need the right stuff for our skin, it essential to still have the proper foundations, and that is drinking water. In Dr. Colbert’s book, The Seven Pillars of Health, he said that if you don’t drink enough clean water you may lose your good looks and that he believes that water is the single best beauty treatment on the planet. With this, we do not have to go all the way to Florida just to stay young; the fountain of youth is right in our own homes.
