Extracts from the plant have been used since ancient times to treat many skin maladies and have now even been used to alleviate the swelling that results from chemotherapy. The chamomile plant is a hardy desert plant that can grow for up to 200 years, is hardy and quite common. The seeds, when crushed yield oil that must be filtered, pasteurized and processed to remove the color and odor for it to be used in beauty care products. The oil contains bisabolol and azulene, both of which have inflammation taming qualities which may explain their use as treatment for poison Ivy exposure. Being very potent, the active ingredients in the oil can be more effective than hydrocortisone in reducing inflammation.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid is more advertised as a miracle in a jar again for its anti-aging properties and is considered as a universal anti-oxidant for it can be dissolved by both water and oils allowing better absorption into cells and tissue. It may be the best protection from ageing to date and is newer than all the other compounds on the market that are hailed to reverse the signs of aging while promoting rejuvenation of the skin. It also has the benefit of allowing the better absorption of other anti-oxidants such as Vitamin C making it act as a promoter of reviving dead or dull skin.

Hyaluronic Acid is a product that is more often used with Vitamin C which aids it in proper penetration. The compound is known for its ability to reduce the onslaught of ageing and the good thing about it is that it occurs naturally in humans as well as in animals. It is part of the maintenance system that lubricates and cushions them from damage in everyday wear and tear. Environmental factors and aging naturally destroys this compound making skin and tissues age prematurely if not countered with any form of treatment. This compound is more present in products that are focused on reversing wrinkles.

Copper Peptide is also a possible key to attaining the fountain of youth for it has the ability to promote the production of elastin and collagen. It is also a very good anti-oxidant and is one of the elements that are essential for survival. The human body has traces of copper compounds that are utilized by enzymes that promote renewal of tissues. Copper peptides also promote the production of glycosaminoglycans which are enzymes that help in the removal of damaged collagen and elastin while promoting the growth and development of new ones to replace them making one look younger as if the clock has been turned back.

Retinol is a derivative of vitamin A and acts the same as Alpha Hydroxy Acids. The particles of vitamin A are small enough to penetrate deeper into the skin. There are products which may contain Retinol as retinol palpitate which is a milder form of the compound. Being milder, it may need another solution or product that has the same active ingredient for the full benefits of retinol to be attained.
Vitamin C is the only anti-oxidant that is scientifically proven to promote the synthesis of collagen and that is vital to our ability to create collagen. Consult a dermatologist for the best products for Vitamin C is a volatile compound that when it is exposed to oxygen it oxidizes so fast rendering most products useless after a few uses.

Alpha-hydroxy Acids (Citric, glycolic, lactic and tartaric Acids) have been in over the counter products for a couple of years and works best in reducing fine lines, evens out irregular pigmentation, reduce large pores and decrease the prominence of age spots. Using it too heavy or for sensitive skinned people could result in sensitivity to the sun and mild irritation. It is also advised to be used in gradual intervals say at every two day intervals, then moving to daily applications to build up tolerance and allow time for any allergies to manifest itself. Any irritations or tenderness should have you stop using all products to reduce the effects and a dermatologist should be consulted.

Skin melanomas are blamed for more than 80% mortality rates of cancer sufferers making it one of the most deadly. if left untreated, they can quickly spread into the rest of the underlying tissue and organs causing a painful death indeed due to complications and other cancers it can bring up. Many doctors recommend that people spend less time in the sun and limit exposure when unavoidable only to the coolest times of the day. Use sunscreen, even for short walks and use protective clothes such as wide rimmed hats and newer solar clothing that prevent harmful rays from penetrating clothing. Under the shade yet in the water, UV has a nasty tendency to bounce off reflective surfaces and even concrete so do use the same protection to prevent getting burned. Kids are more and more getting the disease due to more outdoor activities they get involved in with or without their parents.

Some people have never even heard of Ozone till it was broadcast over the news which singled out its importance to our very survival. As it turns out, the sun’s UV rays (which comes in many forms) come in UV-A, UV-B and UV-C forms. The most damaging is the last type, UV-C but the ozone layer normally takes most of it out of the equation which makes it vital for our survival. UV-a is the most abundant form of UV radiation and UV-B is the most damaging, well with the exception of the last type which the ozone layer normally takes care of.

We human beings are some of the most fragile beings on this earth when it comes to diseases and skin maladies. All animals and plants can suffer damage from the sun’s rays yet we seem to be so ill equipped for the current environment we live in that without protection we would perish in days. Global warning is causing weather patterns to shift leaving us to ponder why on earth it is raining in the middle of summer. The sun’s rays is very much vital to all life on earth and before the hole on the planet’s ozone layer was discovered, we treated it very much casually.

People are some of the most stubborn living beings on earth for statistics show that almost 30% of all adults still go outdoors without using ample sunscreen in spite of well publicized warnings of the damage skin and the resulting skin cancer can cause due to over exposure to the sun. About 1.5 million new cases are diagnosed each year and a few thousand will result in death from skin cancer alone. Even repetitive warnings are not heeded by adults and also children who need more protection for their skin. Research is showing that severe sunburn in childhood can increase the likelihood of contracting skin melanomas and the other forms of skin cancer in adult life. So heed those ads and warnings, they are in fact for your safety and health.
