The Sun’s Rays and Your Skin
May 19, 2009
The sun is one of the many factors that allowed life to evolve on our planet thanks to it’s wondrous powers of life. The sun’s rays allows the human body to synthesize vitamin D which is vital for survival, activated in the skin in some way that has been programmed in our genes through millions of years of evolution. The sun is the giver and also the taker of life for it has the ability to give life, as with trees and plants, but also has the ability to kill such as the case of over-exposure to it’s harmful rays. Years of pollution has resulted in a gaping hole in the earth’s poles that is growing year by year increasing the amount of UV rays from the sun that gets through to us causing many a debilitating diseases. Skin cancer results from over-exposure to the sun’s UV rays that turns skin cells into cancerous ones due to damage in their genetic materials. The bad thing is that a severe sunburn today, can haunt you in fifteen years or so, the damaged DNA lying dormant in wait for the prime time to propagate and spread to other skin cells. Skin Itch
January 30, 2009
You get the itch and run off to the dermatologist to get it checked and you find out there’s nothing wrong, so what gives? Stress, for stress has a very distinct effect on our physiology that the body can react in very unpredictable ways, yes even your itchy skin. One of the reasons for this is that high stress levels may reduce the anti-microbial abilities of your skin lessening its effectivity against the simplest invaders. The skin, as we know is the human body’s largest organ and serves as our first defense against the dangerous world we live in. Our skin is like a breathable jacket that lets sweat out but leaves all other vital fluids in. that’s why a scratch or scrape can be a bit more irritating than a cut. The more surface of your skin is affected, the more nerve endings are exposed so the pain.

Many of the facial maladies we suffer from are more often than not surely related to improper or inadequate cleaning of the face. There are many processes that are recommended as well as a ton of varying products that are aimed to do so. Most work but some don’t and cause more harm than good. Be sure to check around for the ones that sell best and contain only natural extracts meaning no synthesized chemicals. Most synthesized chemicals though similar in structure and efficacy to natural ones have side effects so check for active contents and ingredients. Exfoliation is good but use it sparingly, twice a week is best for too much can irritate skin leaving you with ugly scars. I one needs to have them removed, take them to the professionals so proper force is applied reducing scarring.

After a night of party most of us feel tired and some are drunk and would want to just flop on our beds. One of the hardest parts of being a woman is not only applying make-up before they leave but removing them as well. You apply different products on different parts of the face. All of these products have different constitution and different texture. For these you will need makeup remover according to the makeup product used. Also the makeup on sensitive areas like eyes need to be removed by remover designed for them only. It is specially designed to deal with different makeup components. Water and soap are not sufficient to remove makeup deeply from skin pores. Make up removers are an important part of daily skin cleansing regime. As the right application of makeup is important, in the same way removing the makeup in right manner is equally important.
Various makeup products, which people apply on their skin, are loaded with different kinds of chemicals. If you keep them on skin for longer time or you do not remove them properly, these chemicals will penetrate into your skin, clog the skin pores and damage them for long term. Always make sure that you remove makeup before going to the bed at night time as this is the time when skin regenerates itself, so let it breathe. It will help skin look healthy and maintain its natural tone.
Unmistakeably, large number of people uses cleanser for removing makeup but it has oily composition, which is not right for removing makeup. You can remove foundation or lipstick with water based makeup cleansers. For removing eye makeup like mascara, avoid pulling or scrubbing your skin harshly for removing makeup. If you cannot remove makeup completely with the remover you are using, switch to more effective one. If you have highly sensitive skin, do not use removers having alcohol and any fragrance in them.
A Breakthrough in Sun Protection
August 9, 2008
It’s that time of year again, when the sun peaks through and your skin soaks it all up like a sponge. Sure you’ll get a nice tan, but the sun’s harmful rays will affect your skin, and when it does, that tan won’t even be worth it. Here’s how to protect your sensitive skin from that powerful sun.
Most people think that an SPF 30 or more will completely shield them from the sun’s damaging rays. Wrong. SPF only refers to UVB rays, which is the shorter end of the sun’s spectrum of light that causes sunburns. The longer rays, which are called UVA, are only filtered out by some sunscreens, not all. Since UVA rays are not harmful instantly, they do damage in the long run, and companies are now working to bring out sunscreens that contain protection against UVA rays as well.
